Good Governance and Advocacy
Overview
We are dedicated to promoting transparent, accountable, and inclusive governance in northern Kenya. Our Good Governance and Advocacy pillar aims to empower communities to actively participate in decision-making processes, hold leaders accountable, and advocate for their rights. By fostering good governance and advocacy, we strive to create an environment where all community members can thrive and contribute to sustainable development.
What We Do
Community Empowerment: We educate and empower community members to understand their rights and responsibilities, encouraging active participation in governance processes. This includes training on civic education, leadership skills, and public expenditure tracking.
Advocacy Campaigns: We lead and support advocacy campaigns that address critical issues such as gender equality, human rights, and access to services. Our campaigns aim to influence policy changes and improve the legal and regulatory framework for marginalized communities.
Capacity Building: We strengthen the capacities of local governance structures, civil society organizations, and community-based groups to advocate for and implement good governance practices. This includes providing technical assistance, resources, and training.
Our Approach
Participatory Processes: We ensure that community voices are heard and considered in all governance and advocacy initiatives. This participatory approach fosters ownership and accountability among community members.
