Building Resilence

Building Resilence

ALDEF supports capacity development of affected communities to plan within and around resilience to ensure concerted efforts in areas of food security and livelihoods;

Many of the members of the communities in service delivery areas for ALDEF Kenya are largely poor, vulnerable, and prone to a multiplicity of disasters, the top of them being drought. Such communities suffer from chronic food insecurity, diseases, conflicts and other vulnerabilities while the affected areas are characterized by plunder and unsustainable exploitation of naturally occurring resources without due regard and consideration for the conservation of the environment.

OUR WORK INVOLVES

It is against this background that ALDEF Kenya will endeavor to add on support and efforts of other likeminded institutions, actors, and stakeholders in complimentary and synergistic ways to restore hope and build the capacity of the communities that are emerging from crises not only to recover faster but further to empower them so as to engage in sustainable development, improved social status and better quality of life.

Therefore, ALDEF Kenya will support the capacity development of the affected communities to plan within and around resilience to ensure concerted efforts in areas of food security and livelihoods; provision of quality education; youth engagement and empowerment; health and nutrition of the most vulnerable populations; and, adaptations to climate change and resilience mechanisms.

ALDEF Kenya is cognizant of the fact that addressing recurrent crises and building resilience for communities requires a holistic and integrated systems approach. The efforts and contributions by ALDEF Kenya will resonate with the Resilience Programming Framework; which above all, will prioritize, and manage the interaction and efforts of target groups to enhance overall effectiveness, adaptations, and resilience for communities.
